Old School Electro – Afrika Bambataa & Kraftwerk

And so we continue with the lovely 80s style electro. Today you get a track from those who were among the first to start the electronic music scene way back in the 70s. And also the once who were the first band that brought hip hop and the electronic scene together.
American Africa Bambaataa with ‘Planet Rock’ from 1982′ sampled the German group Kraftwerk’s ‘Trans-Europe Express’. This merger between
hip-hop beats and electro earned them a place in the top of the charts – and also a place in the hearts of the people from the breakdance scene.

Kraftwerk were among the first to create electronic music and many have since sampled their music.
So I thought we ought to hear one of their tracks. Here as a remix of Body P with a Kratwerk track back from 1981 “It’s More Dun To Compute”.

The Cure & Dondolo Edit’s

The day just passes by so fast and I’ve already had to pace it up a little bit. Here’s another two edit’s from Lulu Rouge. This time they have been tinkering with two remixes by The Cure and Dragon, which has been remixed by Diblo and Shit Robot.

As I’ve written before, and do again now, Lulu Rouge changes almost all the tracks they play in their dj-sets. Sometimes more than others, but edited they are.

So just enjoy the music wherever you are!

VCR & Baby Edit’s By Lulu Rouge

I’m the type who loves to start the week slow and then build it up as the week progresses. So that when I reach the weekend it’s full speed ahead and then it all starts over on monday morning.
This monday I have picked out two edits from the fabulous Lulu Rouge boys. Although not they’re not as quiet as my head would normally prefer on a slow monday, they’re some great tracks to start of the week. Both tracks has been remixed and played alot through the resent year.

Here’s a Matthew Dear remix of The XX’s VCR and the Clock Opera remix of Baby by The Phenomenal Handclap Band. Both tracks have been through the one and only Lulu Rouge edit machine.

Old School Electro – Hashim, Al-Naafiysh

This time I’m gonna take you on a trip to the old school where it all began and when electro music still was for the few and cool.
I found a track way back from 1983, made by the, at that time only 16 years old, DJ/Producer Hashim (real name Jerry Calliste Jr.). The track is mixed in 3 versions and the first was “The Soul”, which came in at Billboard Dance Disco Chart at place 43.

Here you get all 3 versions.

Ryan Adams, Wonderwall

Last friday, I got the change to experience Lulu Rouge in a whole new way: They played at the Danish art museum Louisiana and as always, it was pure enjoyment to hear them play.

At the end of their nearly 3-hour long set, they played a cover version of Oasis‘s “Wonderwall”. It was a version by Ryan Adams and boy was it good! So good, that I must share it with you now, cause it fits perfectly on a monday where you need to take it slow after the weekend. So sit back and relax to some great tunes
